If you are non-technical, Elements of AI from the University of Helsinki is the best conceptual foundation. If you want something shorter, Anthropic's AI Fluency course takes 3-5 hours and is excellent. If you want the most respected course for business professionals, Andrew Ng's AI for Everyone on Coursera is the standard recommendation.
Yes. Coursera offers financial aid for most courses, which approves within a few days and gives you a free certificate. Google Cloud's Introduction to Generative AI gives a free completion badge immediately. Elements of AI provides a free certificate on completion.
A meaningful foundation takes 10-20 hours spread over 2-4 weeks. That is one hour per working day. The more important habit is using AI tools daily in your actual work, which does not require any course time.
They signal intent and minimum fluency. Google, Microsoft, and AWS certifications are recognised and valued. They are not sufficient on their own, but combined with demonstrated use of AI tools in your work, they are a strong signal. The bigger value is the knowledge itself, which you can apply immediately.
